Electric Sliding Gate?
is this how it is supposed to work…? when someone opens the gate and leaves, the gate then starts to close.. but once a 2nd person tries to exit, it opens back up. That seems normal to me.. But when someone comes in, then the gate starts to close, and then a 2nd person tries to come in, it doesn’t open back up. Is that how its supposed to work or is it supposed to open for the 2nd person trying to come in also? It’s at a gated community.
The gate should NOT open for a second vehicle entering until they present their card key or punch in their code. The timer or vehicle detector on the gate should be set short enough to help prevent this. Following another car in by tailgating occurs often but when observed the offender should be reported to the neighborhood association. This practice “shows” bad guys how to get in without a key or code and reduces the security of the complex. Depending on the situation if someone followed me in like that I might just confront them and give them a scolding if it can be done safely.
Just right ! what is missing in the controlling system of your gate is a “AUTO COMMUTING BALANCED SENSOR SWITCH”.
It operates as follows:
You open the gate and leave (or do not leave)
When the gate arrives at end of rail, it stops for a (timed) period and then slides back to close
If meanwhile, someone else enters or exits, the ACBSS (sensor switch) detects a presence, and says to the gate to stop and re-open etc… and the cycle goes on …
It is like the two or three switches in a big room. When you put the light on at one side of the room, you still can put the lights off at the other end, and so on.
This switch is very common on elevators doors where the transmitting sensor is usually placed at one side of the door, and the receiving sensor on the other side. Everytime the beam is interrupted by the entrance of a person, the door opens…
Yes! The gates are designed to let everyone out, but only authorized people in (not robbers). Yeah! your gate works properly, lucky you!
